Core Principles:
How a Social Worker can help you
Social workers have a deep understanding of human behaviour and development, life cycle stages, family and social networks, disability and health, including mental health.
As a social worker, Ochre Care can help you to identify life challenges and connect you with appropriate support services.
Crisis Intervention
We offer crisis intervention services to individuals and families experiencing an immediate crisis, such as homelessness, incarceration or engaging with child protection services.
Trauma Informed Care
Our trauma-informed approach emphasises safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. We recognise the prevalence of trauma and its impact on individuals and communities, and we aim to create a healing environment for our clients.
Social Workers and NDIS
Social workers play a vital role in supporting people with disability, their families, and carers within the NDIS.
At Ochre Care, we help participants navigate life challenges, access the right supports, and work closely with planners, local area coordinators (LACs), and plan reviewers to achieve the best outcomes.
Capacity Building Supports help NDIS participants to develop skills and abilities, enabling them to become more independent and actively participate in their community. This can be achieved by providing access to services like therapy. training and education.
What is Support Coordination?
Support Coordinators help participants plan and set up the supports they need. We make it easier to connect with the right services and supports, and we focus on building a strong mix of formal and informal supports around you.
Our role is not just to organise services, but to support you to take charge of your own life. We work with you to understand your funding, decide what you want from services, and design supports that fit your goals.
A qualified social worker providing Support Coordination brings expertise in navigating complex systems and supporting people through adversity. They understand structural barriers and use practical frameworks to prioritise needs. With their professional skills and holistic approach, they help participants develop strategies, become more independent, and create strong, sustainable supports.
Meet Casira, Owner of Ochre Care
As an Aboriginal woman and Allied Health (Social Work) Practitioner, I bring a person-centred approach with a deep commitment to improving the lives of people living with disability. I also am committed to helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Having lived and worked in remote areas of Australia, I have a first-hand understanding of the unique challenges that come with limited access to services in these regions.
I bring extensive experience across various roles within the disability sector, giving me a holistic understanding of how to best support individuals, families, and communities. My previous roles include Disability Support Worker and Support Coordinator (Not-for-Profit). My most recent roles were as Senior Advisor and Clinician with Disability Services, Qld Government working with individuals and families to access the NDIS. Also experience with supporting incarcerated individuals and those in very remote Aboriginal communities.
